Our History
Shortly after emigrating from Italy in the 1920s, John Civetta, Sr., began to build his future in America by doing what he knew best: stone masonry. As demand for his services grew, however, he quickly discovered that the supply of available stone and rock could not meet his needs, to satisfy those demands, he began to seek out excavation opportunities.
Over the course of the next 90 years, his small entrepreneurial venture has grown into one of the metro New York area’s most well-respected providers of excavation services, concrete foundations, reinforced concrete structures and heavy construction general contracting.
It is no exaggeration to say that our company has helped shape the skyline and infrastructure of New York City. From the platforms of major subway stations to the campuses of Manahattan’s elite colleges and universities, cultural institutions as well as world-renowned medical facilities, the professionals of John Civetta & Sons, Inc. are known throughout the New York commercial construction market for their expertise and willingness to tackle even the most challenging projects.
