Greenwich Village Townhouse - ~$3,000,000 contract - Regele Builders
For this ambitious West Village townhouse project, we were tasked with executing complex excavation, underpinning, and concrete foundation work to expand the townhouse's existing basement. The project involved excavating the backyard to a depth of 23 feet, as well as extending the existing cellar level subgrade an additional 10 to 15 feet to accommodate a new swimming pool.
Due to the challenging nature of the work, intricate underpinning and bracing were required to support the excavation safely. The new finished subgrade was located 6 feet below the water table, which presented additional challenges for maintaining a dry and stable work environment. To address this, a well-point dewatering system was drilled and installed to effectively manage groundwater levels and ensure that the excavation and the project could proceed.
